UglyFood has come up with its very own homemade version of fruit roll ups. It’s so simple, and it requires only 4 ingredients! Strawberries, apples, lemons and sugar. Ready? Let’s get rolling!
How to make fruit roll ups:
Yield: 4 people
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Drying time: 5 hours
- 400 g of strawberries
- 2 red/green apples
- 1 quarter of lemon
- 30g – 60g of sugar (optional)
First, puree the 400 g of strawberries, 2 or 3 apples and a quarter of a lemon in a food blender until smooth.
Pour that mixture into a saucepan and stir in sugar. Cook this mixture for about 10 minutes at low heat until it gets thick with a jam-like texture.
Spread the jam out evenly onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet The fruit mixture should be as thin as possible, about a thickness of 1/8 to 1/4 inch, with no holes.
Let the fruit mixture bake for 5 hours in an oven at 60 degrees Celsius. The dehydration process is completed when the middle is no longer tacky. If the edges get too dry, you can rub them with water.
Then, leave it aside to cool down. Cut the fruit roll ups into 1-inch wide strips. Use a string to hold it all together.
Finally, roll each strip up into a rollup!

- You can use frozen fruits for this recipe, just remember to thaw them before blending them into a puree.
- Do not bake for too long or the fruit leather will turn into a crispy chip!
- You can replace sugar with honey.
- Keep fruit roll-ups in a tightly sealed container for up to two weeks.
